Vintage 18ct Yellow Gold 4 Carat Amethyst and Diamond Ring

Striking Amethyst and Diamond Ring, circa 1940

Featuring a large oval amethyst in a four claw setting measuring approximately 4 carats.  Each shoulder features four old cut diamonds in stepped platinum millegrain box settings.  The diamonds measure approximately .20 carats in total.  The raised gallery leads to an 18ct yellow gold plain band shank marked 18CT & P.  The amethyst measures approximately 10mm across. To the reverse the amethyst and diamonds are set into open backed settings which allows the maximum amount of light to shine through.

This is a beautiful statement dress ring with a vibrant saturation of colour.
