Quintessential Victorian Sapphire and Diamond carved half hoop, Hallmarked 1891.
This beautiful graduated carved half hoop ring is comprised of two old cut diamonds measuring approximately 1.00 carat in total, H colour, VS clarity, and three well matched royal blue sapphires of approximately 1.55 carat in total. All stones are claw set and mounted into lovely carved under galleries leading to an 18ct yellow gold plain band shank, marked 18. The head of the ring measures 21mm in width. To the reverse the diamonds are set into open backed settings to allow the maximum amount of light to shine through.
A superb example of an original Victorian carved half hoop ring. The beautiful scroll work on either side gives it the name 'carved half hoop'
